I get that Black Holes are sooo dense that they have enormous gravity that sucks in matter and even light. Supposedly all this energy and matter adds to the mass of the black hole, right? Would the black hole eventually become a planet or a star? At what point would it stop sucking?
1. it cannot become either a planet or a star. It is super super massive. remember, black holes suck in light. therefore it cannot be a star which emits light and heat. And planets have less mass than stars, which means it cannot be a planet either
2. a recent article on Yahoo said that a black hole would stop “sucking” when there is nothing left in the vicinity to “suck”
ok
let me xplain the process slightly
the formation of black hole u know it wright???
ok after dat as u said i attracts mass towards it
But alas!!! u forgot one point da
Black hole is a High Gravity object
the matter dat enters the black hole is compressed ny enormous Gravity in it so it’s size reduces
so ultimately it reduces to a SINGULARITY!!! it is an infinite density infinite curvature object in which laws of Physics fails
so we cannot predict d future of Black hole(Just as reverse of Big Bang) so
in a nutshell
the mass added to it is compressed by it’s enormous Gravitational attraction
It would never become a planet or a star. Once matter goes into a black hole, it is gone forever from our universe. While objects that are sucked in do contribute to the black hole’s mass, the gravitational pull of a black hole prevents that mass from becoming a star. In fact, that additional mass adds to the power of the gravitational pull.
Black holes are the remnants of stars, not the building blocks.
it can’t stop sucking that massive and the gravity it welds.the only way to stop it is another blackhole.there can’t be a star unless you go back in time or if the BIG CRUNCH happens, opposite big bang.
No, this would defy all the laws of physics.
