Painting : Black Hole Disintegration Oil On Panel 4′x6′ Feet A black hole is defined to be a region of space-time where escape to the outside universe is impossible. The existence of black holes in the universe is well supported by astronomical observation. The inspiration for this painting came after a reading I had about the science of the black hole. The painting is about the cosmic science, and the nature, represented by the tiger, the landscape, and the butterflies. I wanted to do something extremely unnatural and surreal, like the tiger eating butterflies with hooks, making allusion with the principle of sucking in, of the black hole. Everything in the scene is being disintegrated in particles, collapsing, evaporating into the black hole. The scene is an attempt to describe what would happen if the elements in the picture approached a real black hole.

This is a scene from the award-winning full length feature film, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE 4th KIND: INFESTATION FROM MARS (www.ce4kmovie.com), that stars Jimmy Hunt from the old sci-fi cult classic, INVADERS FROM MARS, and also stars noted male and female bodybuilders, Bob Cicherillo, Kerstin Khalfani, Lauren Powers, and Brenda Kelly, along with thousands of local residents in Sandusky, Ohio. This movie is the first one ever to be filmed at Cedar Point – sure to be a real cult classic.

A fanciful conception of a multi-generation star-ship/habitat. Probably not very realistic or feasible – just playing with the idea… The generation-ship concept involves generations of colonists living out their lives aboard the star-ship, and centuries later their descendants arrive at the destination. The concept doesn’t rely on exotic technologies such as faster-than-light travel, hyperdrive, etc. Its not a new idea. Several well-known science fiction writers have dealt with the subject, most notably Robert Heinlein in “Universe”, Arthur C Clarke in “Rendezvous With Rama”, and Van Vogt in “Far Centaurus”. Heinlein’s colonists lived in an enclosed habitat. Their society declined over time, and eventually they forgot that they lived on an artificial structure. Rama’s aliens, their nature and motives were never fully revealed but Clarke hinted at suspended-animation techniques used to survive the long journey. Van Vogt’s colonists finally arrive at their destination after centuries in flight only to find the system already colonised by Earth, with the aid of advanced technologies.

Russian scientists plan to carry out a simulation of a mission to Mars. The experiment will be conducted by The Russian Federation State Scientific Centre – Institute for Biomedical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IBMP). But what does such an experiment entail? Well be talking about it with Dr Viktor Baranov, the leader of the Mars 500 experiment.

[Recorded July 28, 2004] In January of 2004, two golf-cart sized rovers landed on the planet Mars to seek evidence about whether the environment there might once have been capable of supporting life. Originally intended to last 90 days and rover 600 meters, these two Mars Exploration Rovers, named Spirit and Opportunity, have far exceeded those expectations. Pete Theisinger, the Manager of the Mars Exploration Rover Project through its development, and now Manager of the 2009 Mars Science Laboratory Project, will describe the challenges of developing the two Mars Exploration Rovers in just three years. He will discuss the design process, relate the myriad challenges and setbacks that had to be overcome during development and operations, and give the definitive behind-the-scenes story of the extraordinary flight and surface operations of the Rover, including some glimpses into the mission’s scientific results.

They are currently among the greats of science, innovation, initiative and adventure: Stephen Hawking, John Archibald Wheeler, Lawrence Krauss, Michio Kaku, Tim Berners-Lee, Robert Cailliau, Bill Gates, Richard Branson. And perhaps, before long, the name of Ronald Mallett will be added to that list of modern day pathfinders and pioneers. Mallett, a professor of theoretical physics at the University of Connecticut, has been working on a time travel machine. The American physicist’s invention would use a ring laser and Einstein’s theory of general relativity. It would manipulate past, present and future by twisting Space and, along with it, Time into a loop. Imagine conquering the virgin frontier of Time like conquering the Atlantic or the Galactic. Reaching the distant shores of the past as the first European explorers reached the distant shores of America. But human travel through Time is probably a long way away. First things first. Dr. Mallet and his fellow scientists must first perform their historic experiment, and they are currently trying to raise $250000 to do just that. The Univ. of Connecticut Foundation, a nonprofit agency responsible for managing funding, has opened an account for the funding of Prof. Mallett’s time travel research. The official name of the program is “The Space-Time Twisting by Light Project”. For more information on this project and how to contact Ron Mallett, click to www.phys.uconn.edu

This is a very confusing advertisement for the Marigibton Hotel. Jes wrote most of the script and was the final editor of the video. The project by the way got a B+ (I think…). 1. markedwardsuk says:

No one knows what a black hole is, in the same way we don’t know what mass and gravity are. Hawkins predicts small black holes, which in turn could mean the process of forming black holes is not restricted to the collapse of a star. Maybe truly fussing together an atomic nucleus turns the electron orbit in to an event horizon, although no one really knows for sure, this is the whole point of the LHC.
