Frontiers/Controversies in Astrophysics (ASTR 160) Class begins with a review of the first problem set. Newton's Third Law is applied in explaining how exoplanets are found. An overview of the Solar System is given; each planet is presented individually and its special features are highlighted. Astronomy is discussed as an observational science, and the subject of how to categorize objects in the Solar System is addressed. The Pluto controversy is given special attention and both sides of the argument regarding its status are considered. I have captured this video luckily today evening 03 Dec 2008. I have noticed a huge fireball burning and coming down with a thud. Couple of weeks back there was a big meteorite hit Saskachwen and Manitoba. This is little smaller in size. I have another video footage of this with full trajectory. Will post it soon.

A father-of-three from Huddersfield has captured images of earth from space using a weather balloon. Starting in October 2008, 38-year-old Robert Harrison filled 12 High Altitude Balloons with helium and launched them 35 kilometres into the atmosphere. Having wrapped a digital camera and Global Positioning System device in loft insulation and linked it to computer software on the ground, he More..was able to track the balloons' progress. He said: "The first time I saw the pictures, I couldn't believe it." The rare images caught the attention of experts in the field and it wasn't long before Harrison received a telephone call from NASA. In total, the project cost Harrison £4000 and he believes the achievement was worth every penny.
