Weather Balloon Photography – Near Outer Space

logo

JEP-1 This is Justin, Evan, and Patrick’s first attempt at near outer space photography (Named for their initials) using a weather balloon. Our launch point was in Cartersville, GA and we landed in the middle of the Chattahoochee National Forest 62 nautical miles away. We calculate that our balloon popped at ~80000 ft. We have plans for a larger balloon and better equipment for a second launch in July 2010.

To all who come to this happy place welcome – Anaheim, United States (disneyland halloween)

logo

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow video of a travel blog to Anaheim, United States by TravelPod blogger Ujju. See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com To all who come to this happy place welcome “”The world of Magic: To all who come to this happy place welcome” This is the phrase from the famous welcome note that hangs on almost all Disney parks around the world, except for the one in Florida. Who on earth wouldn’t't be thrilled & excited to enter the world of Disney. The child in everyone would come alive as long as you are in the Magic kingdom. Oh I don’t have words to explain how I felt when I saw Disneyland for the first time in my life. Well that was in Paris. I felt the same even after entering Disneyland for the second time in LA. I was a little girl again. I remembered how my grand mum would tell stories about her visit to Disneyland in the late 90′s. It was like a dream coming true. I’d heard so much from so many people about this magic place on earth, every visit to it would be nothing less than seeing it for the first time. I, literally went crazy! Some trivia now; read on Wiki, that “Mickey Mouse” got it’s name from Walt Disney’s wife, Lillian Disney. During a train trip from New York to California in 1928, Walt showed a drawing of the cartoon mouse to his wife and told her that he was going to name it “Mortimer Mouse”. She replied that the name sounded “too baby like” and she was very proud to have suggested the name “Mickey Mouse” instead of Mortimer

Hubble’s New Miracle Camera

logo

Hubblecast Episode 40: Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) – Hubble’s New Miracle Camera In early 2009, a team of astronauts visited Hubble to repair the wear and tear of twenty years of operating in a hostile environment – and to install two new instruments, the Cosmic Origins Spectrograph, and Wide Field Camera 3 – better known as WFC3. — Please subscribe to Science & Reason: • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com — Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) is a combined ultraviolet, visible and infrared camera that dramatically extends Hubble’s ability to image astronomical objects. With these new capabilities, Hubble is still pushing the boundaries of science after two decades in orbit. In episode 30 of the Hubblecast, we saw some of the very first pictures to come back from Wide Field Camera 3, Hubble’s newest and most advanced instrument. Today we’re going to look at some of the science behind these pictures. We’ll find out how this remarkable new camera is helping Hubble to see the invisible, look far back in time and spot objects further away from us than ever before. WFC3 was installed on Hubble in place of WFPC2, the Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2, which for many years had been the main workhorse instrument on Hubble. Not only do the two instruments have very similar names, and look virtually identical, the capabilities of WFC3 are also in some respects just a tweaked version of those of its predecessor — although with sharper pictures and more
