IMAX: Cosmic Voyage HD pt 4/4 (Narrated by Morgan Freeman)

logo

Explore the Universe from its tiniest particle to its greatest expanse. Cosmic Voyage begins on Earth, firmly grounded in human perspective, and asks a fascinating question: Where exactly do we stand in the vastness of the cosmos? Where, between quark and quasar, is our place in space and time? You depart from Venice, where Galileo first demonstrated the use of the telescope. In 26 “”powers of ten”" stages, you ascend through our solar system and the Milky Way to the outer edges of the observable universe. Returning to Earth, you enter a drop of water and descend through sixteen ever-diminishing circles to the universe’s tiniest particle, a quark. The film features a “”cosmic zoom”" as viewers are transported across millions of years as galaxies collide, the solar system forms and life begins on a young planet Earth. This is an excerpt from Disney’s Mars and Beyond science show from 1957. Its an animated spoof of all of the pulp science fiction of the day, with the most generic, yet recognizable plot points around! Its such a great job, you could put it right in with all the books and films of the day, it would stand its ground. lol If you like this, I’m adding it to my 50s Sci-Fi Trailers playlist: missing-pieces.com And it is part of Disney’s Mars and Beyond show as a playlist I use on my website: missing-pieces.com That was the 3rd in a series that Disney did with Werner von Braun in the 50′s, following ‘Man in Space’: missing-pieces.com and ‘Man and the Moon’: missing-pieces.com and before ‘Eyes in Outer Space’: missing-pieces.com Enjoy!

Rainwater Observatory is a world class observatory located in the small town of French Camp, MS. When I visited there I was shocked to find out they didn’t have any type of promotional videos on the internet. They believe science supports faith, just as I do. The directors were kind enough to stay late and allow me to create a shoot this footage so I could make a short film for them. There’s lots of time lapse footage, as well as images taken from their Sangre telescope. Call them to set up a tour! We looked at the moon when I was there. In my experience Faith supports science, and vice versa. “The Heavens Declare the Glory of God”. Pennywhistle Productions

Earth-like Planets HD (29/4/2010)

James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), Part 2/2 – Finding earth-like (extrasolar) planets. — Please subscribe to Science & Reason: • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com • www.youtube.com — The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is a large, infrared-optimized space telescope, scheduled for launch in 2014. JWST will find the first galaxies that formed in the early Universe, connecting the Big Bang to our own Milky Way Galaxy. JWST will peer through dusty clouds to see stars forming planetary systems, connecting the Milky Way to our own Solar System. JWST’s instruments will be designed to work primarily in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum, with some capability in the visible range. JWST will have a large mirror, 6.5 meters (21.3 feet) in diameter and a sunshield the size of a tennis court. Both the mirror and sunshade won’t fit onto the rocket fully open, so both will fold up and open once JWST is in outer space. JWST will reside in an orbit about 1.5 million km (1 million miles) from the Earth. • www.jwst.nasa.gov The Universe: Another Earth HD- www.youtube.com ‘Earths are common,’ NASA scientist says- www.thestar.com CNN: Galaxy May be Full of ‘Earths,’ Alien life – www.cnn.com Earth-like Planet Discoveries on the Horizon (8/1/2010)- www.digitaljournal.com Earth’s Twin Planet Will Be Found By The End Of The Year, leading Astronomer says (26/1/2010)- www.dailymail.co.uk Looking for Alien Earths?
