This is Part II of IV of a Powerpoint presentation that can be found and downloaded atsciencepowerpoint.com which is one part of a teaching unit for students in grades 5-10. Each few seconds represents one slide on the actual Powerpoint Presentation. The entire unit covers Earth System History and Astronomy Topics. This unit includes an interactive and engaging Powerpoint Presentation of over a 1000 slides with built in class notes (Red Slides), lab activities, project ideas, discussion questions, assessments (Quiz Wiz), challenge questions with answers, links to create educational websites, videos, and much more. Text is in large print (32 font) and is placed at the top of each slide so it can seen and read from all angles of a classroom. Also included is a 13 page assessment that chronologically follows the slideshow for nightly homework and the end of the unit assessment, as well as a 10 page modified assessment for students who require. 12 pages of class notes with images are also included for students who require modifications, as well as answer keys to both assessments for support professionals, teachers, and home school parents. 39 video shorts (FLV files) are provided and a slide within the slideshow cues teacher / parent when the videos are most relevant to play. Another video, this time, with some home made optics experiment… I believe that gravity works as a piramid. At center, space is shorter. Outside, space is larger. The light speed depends from the distance between the points in my graphics. All was made with blender. A pyramid Prisma, a lighter and a plastic plate. On the graphics, the net represents the ways that light could take for accelerate…if these spaces remains stable, for exemple, inside of a gravitational field, light will have a constant speed. but if they change too much, light will slow down his speed. If the acceleration increases or decresase over the square of the stable velocity, matter will be generated. If the acceleration is enough, mass is transfered into the past…keeping universe nucleous mass estable…this happens continuously, and this is the reason for the ilusion of the universe expansion… NOTE: The pictures are the light focused on the pyramid. From the top of the pyramid (from lower to higher density). And from underground pyramid (from higher to lower density). The white plastic was used as a projection screen. In the first pictures, pyramid is above it and light enters from underground, forming the circular shape when top viewed. In the other photos, the prisma is up-side-down, with light entering from the top. The patterns on the projected light seems as a flower then…or even, a galaxy shape, depending on the angles of light focus…:-) You should see a cross on the photos, but …

Time lapse video of our engineering project at UMass Amherst. Our weather balloon, named the Shuttlecraft, reached an altitude of approximately 104000 ft. Pictures were taken every 5 seconds during the fight with a Canon a560 digital camera. The balloon traveled west as it gained altitude and then turned east where it climbed to its burst altitude. Upon reaching the maximum altitude, the balloon popped and the capsule descended back to earth. It landed off the coast of Plum Island, MA. The total trip time from launch to splashdown is 2.8 hours. Its ascent took 142 minutes and 20 seconds and it took 25 minutes and 55 seconds for it to descend back to earth. The capsule turned up four days later on the beach where it was found by a self proclaimed “Professional Beach bum” who kindly called us to arrange a pickup. After four days in the Atlantic we managed to retrieve the 8gb SDHC and get the pictures. Pictures include the Connecticut River and surrounding area, Granby MA, Holyoke MA, the former Mount Tom Ski Area, and the Atlantic Ocean. Special Thanks go to the “professional beach bum” who was kind enough to call us and meet us so we could retrieve our project. Without his help, our project would have been lost.
